The most popular route to a full bike licences for those over 21 is the Direct Access Scheme (DAS) course. This licence qualifies you to ride absolutely any bike you like the look of; you get a full unrestricted licence.

If you are 'of a smaller build' or do not want to ride bigger bikes straight away then you may wish to consider the A2 test instead. If you are unsure, please feel free to pop in and see us and have a chat about it and even have a sit on the bike to 'try it for size' before you commit to anything.

In order to sit your DAS (Direct Access Scheme) test you must:
  • Be at least 21 years of age.

  • Successfully complete the CBT course.

  • Pass the motorcycle Theory Test (the car Theory test does not count!)

  • Sit your practical tests on a motorcycle with a power output of over 46.6 bhp
(usually a 500cc bike is used for this part of the training).

We can arrange the theory test for you, or you can book your own online. Click Here (opens a new window - disable any pop-up blockers!)

We will arrange the practical tests for you, we will discuss these in more detail when you book. The test fees are included in our course price.

The DAS course is tailored to suit your level of experience. A 5 day DAS course (the most popular) follows this structure:

Day 1 : If you do not already hold a CBT, that would be your first stage of training (or a free introduction lesson, followed by CBT). This first stage entitles you to ride as a learner with L-plates.

The next stage would be to take those skills and develop them further (or in other words, take you from CBT standard to test standard and beyond!)

Day 2 : 'Road Rider' - Road riding (quite obviously!) on a 125cc motorcycle.

Day 3 : 'DAS1' - The first stage of this course is to introduce the 500cc bike and give you a chance to familiarise yourself with the additional size, weight and power. This initial upgrade takes place in our training center, not on the road! Once you are comfortable with the bigger bike we continue to develop your skills and practice the 'Module 1' excercises on the bigger bike.

Day 4 : 'DAS 2' - Plenty of road work followed by your module 1 test.

Day 5 : 'DAS 3' - Now that you have passed your module 1, you will receive more module 2 (road) training followed by your module 2 test.
